Foothills School Division announces new vice principal for Turner Valley School
HIGH RIVER, AB, June 28, 2016 – Foothills School Division (FSD) is pleased to announce the administrative appointment of Debbie Reid as the new Vice Principal of Turner Valley School, effective August 2016. Ms. Reid will move into the position currently held by Chase Ellis, who is transferring as vice principal to Spitzee Elementary School in the fall.
New to FSD, Debbie received her Bachelor of Education from Memorial University of Newfoundland, one of Atlantic Canada’s largest universities, and her Master of Education (Leadership and School Improvement) from the University of Alberta. Her previous experience includes two assistant principal assignments with another Alberta school division.
Debbie believes it is vital to be actively involved and engaged in the school and broader community: “Schools and community are intertwined. If the community deems something important then it must be important to the school. There is a great opportunity for students to engage with and learn within the larger community.”
She is excited to add her leadership strengths to the outstanding work happening at Turner Valley School, particularly in the areas of Literacy and Numeracy development, and the inclusion of student voice to guide school improvement.
“Debbie brings existing strengths in establishing effective relationships to cultivate student excellence through instructional leadership and quality teaching, and we look forward to welcoming her to our division for the 2016-17 school year,” says Allen Davidson, Assistant Superintendent of Employee Services.
